Capes/Natura Campus Award publishes the list of the finalist articles

The Capes Natura-Campus Research Excellence Award will publish on Friday, 27th the list of the finalist articles. Out of the 268 received articles, six were chosen based on their high relevance and impact for scientific and technologic development focusing on sustainability and biodiversity. Three articles approached the topic of “Sustainability: new materials and technologies” and other three, “Socio-biodiversity and Biologic Preservation”.

The winning articles are going to be revealed during a prize winning ceremony, the date is about to be defined. Besides certificates and flight tickets, the initiative intends to grant BRL$ 25 thousand to the authors.

The initiative results from the partnership between CAPES (Coordination for the Improvement High Education Personnel) and the Brazilian multinational cosmetic manufacturer Natura. The Award was launched last November.

During the event, Carlos Nobre, Capes President, pointed out the innovative aspect of the Capes/Natura Award due to the fact that they’ve chosen to give prizes to articles instead of thesis or dissertations. “Capes traditionally fosters education on the field of human resources awarding prizes to doctoral degree dissertations. This time we are going to award a scientific piece resulting from a doctoral dissertation or a master’s thesis. We want to encourage the production of articles of high level and relevance originated from dissertations and thesis and, in this way, foster the culture of publishing results in the best publications of the world”.
